Chamonix – 5 Day Alpine Trekking Adventure Experience five unforgettable days of trekking in and around the spectacular Chamonix Valley, surrounded by some of the highest and most dramatic mountains in the Alps. Over five guided days, we'll explore a variety of mountain trails, high-level paths, Alpine valleys and spectacular viewpoints, with the magnificent Mont Blanc Massif providing the backdrop to our adventure. Each day will offer something different, with routes selected according to the weather, mountain conditions and ability of the group. Expect a mixture of steady mountain ascents, beautiful balcony trails, rocky Alpine terrain and longer mountain journeys. The trip is designed to be challenging but enjoyable, giving you the opportunity to experience genuine Alpine trekking without the need for technical mountaineering experience.

The Itinerary

1

Day 1

Arrival in Chamonix

Arrive in Chamonix via your included transfer and check in to your accomomdation Relaxation day and a meeting about the days ahead and a social evening in Chamonix Optional short walk depending on arrival time

2

Day 2

Guided Trek from the Brevent

Our first day introduces the terrain and gives us an opportunity to assess the group before heading higher into the mountains. We'll undertake a moderate trek above the valley, using some of Chamonix's excellent balcony trails. Approx: 4–5 hours Ascent: 500–700 m Focus: Settling into Alpine terrain, pacing and preparing for the days ahead.

3

Day 3

Lac Blanc & Aiguilles Rouges

One of the classic Chamonix trekking days. We'll explore the Aiguilles Rouges side of the valley and make our way towards the spectacular Lac Blanc, famous for its views directly across to Mont Blanc. Rather than simply taking the easiest tourist route from the Flégère lift, our trekking day can use the more challenging approaches from Tré-le-Champ or Col des Montets. Chamonix Tourism describes these approaches as suitable for experienced mountain walkers and notes that sections can be technical and exposed. Approx: 5–7 hours Ascent: 800–1,000 m Terrain: Rocky Alpine trails, steep sections and some exposed ground.

4

Day 4

Grand Balcon Nord & Mer de Glace

Our final day gives us one of the most spectacular panoramas of the entire trip. Using the lift to Plan de l'Aiguille, we'll trek along the Grand Balcon Nord towards Montenvers and the Mer de Glace. The classic balcony section passes beneath the Aiguilles de Chamonix with views towards Mont Blanc before the landscape opens towards the Drus, Aiguille Verte and Grandes Jorasses. The standard Plan de l'Aiguille–Montenvers route is approximately 5.7 km, so we'd have the option of incorporating additional walking to create an appropriate final-day challenge. Approx: 4–6 hours Terrain: High-level balcony trails and rocky mountain paths. It gives us a spectacular but slightly shorter final day before celebrating the completion of our five-day Alpine adventure.

Day 5

Aiguille De Midi & Coffee at 3842m & Transfer Back to Airport

High-Altitude Coffee – Aiguille du Midi Take a break from trekking and experience coffee at 3,842 metres. From the centre of Chamonix, the Aiguille du Midi cable car climbs into the heart of the Mont Blanc Massif in around 20 minutes, giving access to spectacular 360° views across the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. At the top, we'll have time to explore the viewing terraces and enjoy a coffee at the Summit 3842 café, surrounded by some of the highest mountains in Western Europe. A memorable addition to the trip — probably one of the highest coffees you'll ever have!

Guide Tips

Is This Trip For You?

Fitness & Experience

A good level of mountain fitness is required. You should be comfortable walking for approximately 5–8 hours per day, potentially completing 800–1,200 metres of ascent, and be capable of doing this on consecutive days. Previous hill or mountain walking experience is recommended. You should be comfortable travelling over steep, rocky and uneven terrain, with the possibility of some exposed sections. No climbing or technical mountaineering experience is required. The emphasis throughout the five days is on exploring, challenging yourself and experiencing the incredible Chamonix mountains as part of a small guided group.
